When the devices will not connect

Troubleshoot receiving codes, QR camera permissions, same-Wi-Fi connection failures and interrupted browser file transfers.

Check the network first

Both devices should use the same Wi-Fi or phone hotspot. A matching Wi-Fi name alone does not guarantee that the network permits device-to-device traffic.

Guest Wi-Fi, company networks and client isolation can prevent a direct connection. Try a trusted home network or a phone hotspot. A VPN can also change the route; test without it if your environment permits.

A receiving code is missing or no longer works

  1. Make sure the receiving page is still open and online.
  2. Check the current four-digit code on that page instead of an old screenshot or bookmark.
  3. If automatic recovery has stopped, follow the page's prompt to scan again or enter the other device's current code. Avoid repeatedly refreshing both pages at once.

Text arrives, but a file will not transfer

A successful code lookup or text message does not prove that a file connection exists. Short text can be relayed by the service; files need a browser-to-browser WebRTC data channel.

Check both pages' status messages, keep them open, and try a small file on a trusted shared network. Sending through a server relay is not available as a file fallback in this service.

The camera or QR scanner will not open

For live camera scanning, use HTTPS and allow camera access for this website. A local HTTP address on a phone may only allow taking a QR photo or selecting one from the photo library.

You can enter the four-digit receiving code instead of using a camera. If camera permission was denied, review this website's permission in your browser settings.

A transfer stops or the file is incomplete

Keep the receiving page open and in the foreground. Screen locking, device sleep, a network change or closing either page can interrupt the transfer.

Confirm the received file on the receiving device before retrying. If a large file fails, test a smaller file first and check available memory. Retrying does not resume an incomplete file from its previous position.
