Send files between a phone and computer

Connect a phone and computer to the same Wi-Fi, pair their browsers with a QR or four-digit code, and send files, photos and text without installing an app.

Before you start

  • Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi, or connect one device to the other phone's hotspot.
  • Open this website in a modern browser on both devices. The public website needs internet access to load and coordinate the connection.
  • Keep both pages open and the devices awake. A receiving page is needed even when you only want to send a short message.

Send from a phone to a computer

  1. Open the transfer page on the computer and find its four-digit receiving code.
  2. Open the same website on the phone. Enter the computer's code, or scan the computer's QR using the page's scan option.
  3. Check that the selected receiving device is your computer. Select Files / documents or Photos / videos, or enter text.
  4. Send the content and keep both pages in the foreground while it transfers.
  5. Check the receiving page for completion. Open or save the received file using the browser's download controls.

Send back, or connect two computers

Once the devices are paired, either page can send content to the other. Select content on the computer to send it back to the phone. Two computers can pair by entering a receiving code in the same way.

If a page was closed or its receiving code expired, open it again and use its current code. Saved device names do not mean that a device is currently online.

Photos, videos, APKs and other files

Use Files / documents for APKs, archives and other file types. Photos / videos opens the system's media picker. The available folders and items depend on your operating system and browser.

This service does not compress or transcode files itself. The file chosen by the system picker is the one sent. Check the selected file name if the picker offers converted photo formats.

Check completion and save the result

A connected device or successful QR scan confirms pairing, not a completed file transfer. Check the receiving page's completion message and file before closing either browser.

Browsers may keep received files in memory until you save them. Start with a small file on an unfamiliar device or network; very large files may exceed the receiving device's available memory.
